Dave Barry

Dave Barry apparently struck the right chord among self-deprecation, cornball humor, and persistent Miami-bashing, because the columnist-author's commentary has propelled him to a Pulitzer Prize in '88, several best-selling books, and even a relatively successful CBS sitcom based on his life, Dave's World, where he was lovingly portrayed by Harry Anderson. As the longtime syndicated humor columnist for The Miami Herald, Barry spoofed everyday foibles and commented on serious societal issues with zany quips, exaggerated satire, and the occasional shark joke. Since the semi-retirement from his regular post in 2004, Barry's spent his free time writing children's novels with Ridley Pearson, as well as keeping up with his fall-back career: rocking out on lead guitar with literary nerds like Stephen King and Mitch Albom in the Rock Bottom Remainders.
