Dave Eggers
Postmodern lit poster boy Dave Eggers is an even hotter commodity than usual due to his latest novel, last year’s The Wild Things (a companion piece for the critically popular Where The Wild Things Are movie, which he co-wrote). He also put out the nonfiction Zeitoun in 2009, using the story of a Syrian-American immigrant to narrate the deathly days following Hurricane Katrina. Eggers has always been at his best when deconstructing established storytelling forms—in Zeitoun and in such books as his breakthrough A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius and as the founder of the popular lit-mag McSweeney’s.
