Sure, Chocolate News only lasted a scant three months in 2008, and the comedy-improv show Thank God You’re Here only squeezed out seven episodes in 2007, but they both demonstrated how likable and charming comedian David Alan Grier can be, even when he isn’t the main focus of a show. The Yale graduate hasn’t rocketed to fame like fellow In Living Color stars Jamie Foxx or Jim Carrey, but he also hasn’t lost his tenacity to embark on new projects. (Although his Dance Flick appearance in a fat suit suggests DAG has lowered his bar considerably.) Grier’s exasperated, warm style may not translate into a blockbuster career, but he still has an enviable position as a household name and stand-up comic.
