Artist Davila 666

  • Davila 666

Davila 666 pretty much does exactly what Southern delinquent rockers The Black Lips do—but completely in Spanish. It’s obvious the Puerto Rican group has studied the garage-rock history books cover to cover, leaning on the Detroit grime of The Sonics and Iggy Pop with songs like “Basura” (translation: trash) and the more friendly, fuzzy A.M. radio sounds of the Ramones with “Muy Mal!” (translation: very bad). What Davila 666 means in English, we’re not sure. But its rough translation must be something along the lines of “kick-ass, make-out music for post-modern greasers.”
