Artist Davy Knowles And Back Door Slam
Named for one of the sounds you hear when your witchy woman’s cheatin’ on you, England’s Back Door Slam looks back to a time when its countrymen started digging into the blues to fuel a new era of guitar pyrotechnics. Still in his early 20s, singer-guitarist Davy Knowles isn’t claiming to revolutionize the blues-rock genre, so the appeal here has a lot to do with his guitar chops, informed by blues both Delta and British and a good feel for vintage tone. Peter Frampton produced his second album, Coming Up For Air, which makes way for plenty of fiery licks, of course, but also keeps the songs tight and focused.
