Dayglo Abortions

Apparently Tipper Gore hadn’t heard of the Dayglo Abortions in 1985, because they didn’t make the PMRC’s “Filthy 15” list despite their best efforts. The Vancouver punk-rockers have been generally offending the masses since 1979 with catchy song titles like “Here Today Guano Tomorrow,” “Whiter Than Hitler,” “Anal Chinook,” and “Homophobic Sexist Cokeheads.” After several changes in the lineup and more than three decades to develop, the message is the same, and so is the quality—pure angry punk that sounds like it was recorded in the drummer’s basement. The final song on 2004’s Holy Shiite is the perfect synopsis for the band’s career: “Fuck The World (If It Can’t Take A Joke).” The band hasn’t released any new material lately, but 2010 saw the release of the band’s bio. Titled Argh Fuck Kill: The Story Of The Dayglo Abortions, the book was released by Gofuckyerself Press—all things we’re not making up, somehow.
