Dead Meadow

A slow-minded band big into the likes of Blue Cheer and The Groundhogs, Dead Meadow cooks up a stew of murky psychedelia and bluesy metal. After a couple of unremarkable full-lengths released by Tolotta (the imprint of Fugazi’s Joe Lally), the band found its voice on its 2003 Matador debut, Shivering King And Others. The follow-up, Feathers, drifted too far into the mellower end of aimlessness, but 2008's Old Growth marked a welcome return to languid gravity and creeping atmosphere. In the vein of Zeppelin's Song Remains The Same, Dead Meadow's 2010 release Three Kings is a full-length film featuring live footage and tripped-out dream scenarios with an accompanying soundtrack.
