Del The Funky Homosapien
Del The Funky Homosapien may have made his biggest impact in 1991, dropping the giddy good vibes and at times bathroom-level humor of I Wish My Brother George Was Here into a genre then dominated by gangsta rap, but the past few years have been just as productive. He signed to Definitive Jux for the 2008 solo album Eleventh Hour; put out a few free or cheap web albums and singles via Bandcamp; and paired with New Jersey rapper Tame One for the 2009 collaborative release, Parallel Uni-Verses. This, combined with a recent triple CD, Golden Era, suggests Del has as much enthusiasm as ever for hip-hop that’s equally old-school and idiosyncratic.
