Artist Delilah DeWylde And The Lost Boys
Michigan’s Delilah DeWylde And The Lost Boys serve as a reminder that country music used to be a dress-up affair. DeWylde, who sings and plays upright bass, always takes the stage in a dress, and the rest of the band sports matching suits as they back her on drums, guitar, and steel guitar. The band sounds as aggressively vintage as it looks, plying old-fashioned honky-tonk and hoedown tunes that cast a sternly indifferent eye over all that newfangled country stuff. Then again, DeWylde’s been known to pull some not-so-ladylike antics with her bass, such as lifting it up in the air or standing on it while playing.
