Department Of Eagles

Department Of Eagles is a subset of the beloved band Grizzly Bear, which doesn’t leave a lot wanting for fans of quiet, gentle, and deceptively skewed songcraft. Grizzly Bear veers more often toward folk, but the same sense of expansion plays a role in Department Of Eagles, even if in songs more indebted to Van Dyke Parks than Animal Collective. It’s hard to imagine even DOE expected such a rapturous reaction to last year’s In Ear Park, but consider it a victory for small songs invested with lots of care and attention.
