Building a reputation as globetrotting partiers and remix artists attacking the likes of Annie, Mariah Carey, and Fischerspooner, Designer Drugs’ Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson will (most likely intentionally) throw some people off with the sinister hard house of its debut, Hardcore/Softcore. The throbbing single “Through The Prism” marks a departure from the band’s bubblegum beginnings, and song titles like “Dead Meat” and “Face Melter” may have some bracing themselves for a gabber-style assault on the senses, but DD still make sure to put party time ahead of head-shattering electronic experimentation, so you’ll still find it easy to dance.
