Just like getting attached to a certain band’s sound, people come to expect certain songs within certain genre confines from certain DJs. But Jeremy Thomas obviously doesn’t like to get too indebted to just one style, as evidenced by the variety of mixes (many recorded live) he has floating around on his podcast site. Old soul sets show a keen ear for hip-hop sample sources—like The Isley Brothers’ “Footsteps In The Dark”—deep house mixes encourage movement, and hip-hop selections span the shores, from Gang Starr to Common to The Pharcyde.
