DJ Z-Trip

More than a decade before Girl Talk threw mash-ups into hyper-speed, there was DJ Z-Trip. Equal parts traditional vinyl scratcher and Serato enthusiast, the Arizona-bred Zach Sciacca is known to interlace everything from classical compositions to Motown to Metallica. Z-Trip has released dozens of mix-tapes, remixes, EPs, and full-length albums throughout his career, and in 2008 was tapped to create a mix in honor of President Barack Obama’s inauguration; the result was 2009’s Victory Lap, which is available for free on his website. Voted America’s Best DJ in 2009 by numerous publications, Z-Trip has since seen his residency in Las Vegas draw guests like Three 6 Mafia and De La Soul, collaborated with LL Cool J on the New York Giants’ anthem “Super Baller,” and produced a track on Datsik’s new album.
