Donna Summer
A big vocal presence who reigned as the queen of disco when there was no greater mantle to reach, Donna Summer worked with super producer Giorgio Moroder on two of the biggest anthems of the era. “Love To Love You Baby” featured Summer’s strikingly orgasmic moans, and the all-electronic “I Feel Love” got by on a vocal performance that sounded soulful and alien at the same time. It’s been a long time since the ’70s, but Summer has stuck around—albeit in a considerably less modern mode.
