Double Dagger

Baltimore’s bristling post-hardcore trio Double Dagger has an enviable knack for doing more with less—which undoubtedly serves its members well in their day job as high-profile graphic designers. It’s those jobs, though, that are contributing to the band’s demise after they do these last few tour dates. It’ll be a big loss musically, as the band is a brutally economical combination of only vocals, drums, and bass stretched and distorted into expressive squalls of rage, piston-pumping grooves, and atmospheric swirls. The band’s releasing a posthumous EP, Masks, and promises a few more as-yet-unreleased songs in the future, but fans can find solace in the band’s only full-length, 2009’s More, a slippery, beguiling blend of Dischord-era assault and the melodic hardcore of Fucked Up.
