Doug E. Fresh's mid-'80s records set an impossibly high bar for human beatboxing in hip-hop. A mix of Bronx, funk, and Caribbean, Fresh's mouth-stylings provided uncanny imitations of all manner of beat-machinery and sound effects, fixing him pretty solidly in the classic hip-hop cannon and providing a boost for his early Get Fresh crewmate Slick Rick.
