Doveman
Doveman is Thomas Bartlett, a young musician who counts among his friends the likes of Nico Muhly and Sam Amidon. That means he's smart and studied in what he does, but also very approachable and eager to drift outside the lines of excessive decorum. The 2009 Doveman album The Conformist came out on Brassland, the label behind The National, and it features lots of fleshy, whispery indie-pop songs that sound a good deal more fussed over than indie-pop songs generally do. Whether that's good or not is a matter of disposition.
