Dr. John
Dr. John’s career has been marked by a restless spirit that finds him switching gears (and headgear) with nearly every album. Though blues remains a common thread, Dr. John has experimented with modern neo-psychedelia (enlisting Paul Weller and Spiritualized’s Jason Pierce for his 1998 album Anutha Zone), paid tribute to Duke Ellington (Duke Elegant), and returned to his New Orleans roots—a lot. That’s pretty much the charge of his Lower 911 Band, with which Dr. John and guest Derek Trucks made a 2010 album called Tribal.
