Drag The River

Drag The River, Denver, Colorado, Jon Snodgrass

Even while leading Colorado punk outfit Armchair Martian throughout the ’90s, Jon Snodgrass wore his country heart on his sleeve. Starting Drag The River with neighbor Chad Price of All seemed like a front-porch affair, but the instant chemistry was undeniable: Price’s sweet twang was the perfect foil for Snodgrass’ gruff rumble, in that Tweedy-versus-Farrar kind of way. The full lineup has been in rotation over the past decade, and a few extended hiatuses dot Drag The River’s history, but in spite of it all, the group has put out an impressive body of work. Primer, a greatest hits collection that featured studio tracks, live material, and covers, came out at the end of 2009. That was followed by last year’s 2010 Demons, a collection of demos the band plans on re-recording for a proper follow-up this year.
