Drop The Lime—a.k.a. New York DJ/producer Luca Venezia, or Curses! as he’s also known—has been creating grimy club fare since the early 2000s. But what sets the DJ apart from his turntable/computer-driven counterparts is one simple technique: Venezia uses his own vocals on tracks, not only for recordings, but also during live sets. As a member of the NYC crew Trouble & Bass, Venezia has also put out dozens of original dark and heavy break beat tracks, as well as remixes for other artists. T&B’s infamous underground parties have also helped to bring back the seedy side of ’90s rave culture.
