Dropkick Murphys
Dropkick Murphys may be Beantown’s second-proudest musical sons after Aerosmith (sorry, Pixies), and their fist-pumping, pub-born populist punk has been adopted as the city’s de facto jock jam. The Red Sox even rallied their drought-ending 2004 World Series championship behind the Murphys’ redo of the Broadway anthem “Tessie.” The band’s currently still on the road promoting 2011’s Going Out In Style, a concept album that follows the life of an Irish immigrant and features guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen and NOFX’s Fat Mike.
