Drugs Dragons
Luke Chappelle is probably best known in the Milwaukee music scene as one half of garage-rock record-spinners The Get Drunk and as a visual artist whose whacked-out creations have adorned show posters and album covers. But Chappelle also makes his own music with Drugs Dragons, a riff-heavy psychedelic outfit that released a terrific self-titled album late last year. The group just released a new six-song EP, Milorganight. It’s a slightly slicker, more focused affair than Drugs Dragons, though still stuffed with tongue-in-cheek, doom-and-gloom monster vocals and songs with titles like “Burning Hell” and “Pestilence In The Flesh.” The album’s title track is a particularly inspired effort, and an early contender for Milwaukee’s best shout-along stomper of 2011.
