Dum Dum Girls
The sound of a revving motorcycle engine is just as important to The Shangri-Las’ “Leader Of The Pack” as the song’s timeless melody, a fact that lead Dum Dum Girl Dee Dee clearly took to heart while shaping her band’s clangorous debut for Sub Pop, I Will Be. That record was essentially a solo project, and the band sounds much more like, you know, a band on the following releases, including new release Only In Dreams. Having channeled several generations of rock ’n’ roll street toughs on I Will Be, Dum Dum Girls find their own sound in the melodic, catchy static of Only In Dreams.
