Earl Greyhound

Shaking the holy ghosts of rock ’n’ roll for all they’re worth, photogenic power trio Earl Greyhound—made up of lanky frontman Matt Whyte, bass goddess Kamara Thomas, and Popeye-armed drummer Ricc Sheridan—made plenty of noise with its 2006 debut, Soft Targets. Greyhound’s sound pays homage to the guitar heroes of yesteryear, but while the song remains the same, the group’s energy and forceful strut are all its own. At its best, Earl Greyhound comes across like a grungy amalgam of The Guess Who and Shudder To Think. The group’s new release, Suspicious Package, keeps on trucking with more polished maximum R&B like “Oye Vaya.”
