Echo And The Bunnymen

Echo And The Bunnymen
Often derided for going just a little too far over the top, mopey, moppy ’80s band Echo And The Bunnymen has been vindicated somewhat by time. With Ian McCulloch’s romantically affected vocals and hooks provided by Will Sergeant, one of the decade’s coolest art-rock guitarists, the band progressed from raw, Joy Division-like rock to the soaring grandeur of “The Killing Moon” in five short years. Echo And The Bunnymen has been working steadily since regrouping in 1997, and recent records—including the 2009 album The Fountain—have been solid in ways that evoke the old without making a mockery of the time between.
