Edie Sedgwick

Justin Moyers knows how to wield an artistic shtick. The former El Guapo and Supersystem member has parlayed his status as a D.C. music mainstay into something a little more fun and flamboyant in the form of solo project Edie Sedgwick. Taking the name and guise of former Andy Warhol superstar—who died of an overdose in 1971 but was apparently reincarnated in 2001—Moyers performs as a transgendered balladeer of celebrity culture, often taking the stage with a projector and backing band. His latest album, 2011’s Love Gets Lovelier Every Day, is all about experimental electro-pop and playful indie—a combination that should last longer than the proverbial 15 minutes.
