Editors

Editors

Editors are huge in many parts of the world, selling millions of records in their native England and around Europe. Here, they're regarded largely as "that band that sounds like Interpol," which is accurate though not entirely fair: Both look to dank '70s post-punk for inspiration, and each has a singer—in Editors' case, Tom Smith—who packs a dark baritone. With this year's In This Light And On This Evening, though, Editors attempt to set themselves apart, trading sharp electric guitars for keyboards on many songs. It's not the type of gambit likely to pay off on American radio, but at least it's different.
