El Perro Del Mar
El Perro Del Mar is the project of Sarah Assbring, a Swede who whispers her pop songs and then adorns them with orchestral swoon. Comparisons to acts like Camera Obscura are apt to a point, but El Perro Del Mar veers places—dark electronic music, classic disco—that couldn't be less twee. Love Is Not Pop, an album from last year, is very poppy and filled with songs about love and loss, as well as some fairly heavy-duty remixes.
