Electric Six
Part disco, part dirtbag rock ’n’ roll, Detroit’s Electric Six has aimed to simultaneously please andoffend since the late-’90s. Starting out under the moniker The Wildbunch, the group eventually evolved into Electric Six, with the Freddie Mercury/Richard Cheese-inspired Dick Valentine leading the other pseudonym-heavy members through clever creep-out songs like “Gay Bar” and “Danger! High Voltage.” Valentine and the band followed 2009’s all-caps offensive KILL with 2010’s Zodiac, a record with each of its 12 tracks corresponding to a different astrological sign. The band hasn’t made it clear which song goes with which sign, though it’s a safe bet the sleazy, Courtney Love-alluding “Jam It In The Hole” isn’t the track for Virgos. A new album, Heartbeats And Brainwaves, was just released this past October.
