Elton John
Critically acclaimed but never exactly cool, Elton John has long been a sort of background superstar—despite his once notorious onstage flamboyance. Now in his 60s, John has maintained a massive popularity, and even his cheesiest ballads have proven enduring, many sounding at least as good today as they did 30 years ago: From the glam-fueled “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting” and “Bennie And The Jets” to the elegiac “Tiny Dancer” and “Candle In The Wind,” John’s hits have settled nicely into the pop-culture canon. Currently on an All The Hits tour, John plans to knock out all of the classics and whip up a fan frenzy.
