Elvis Costello And The Imposters
Elvis Costello went back the rock roots he’s been going back to habitually of late on last year’s Momofuku, an album celebrated (or at least appreciated) for its casual, tossed-off quality. “Tossed-off” is relative qualifier for Costello, of course, as even his simple exercises count as significant events this far into his career. His latest exercise is Secret, Profane & Sugarcane, a new country/folk-leaning album produced by T Bone Burnett and featuring guest appearances by Emmylou Harris and Loretta Lynn.
