Emmylou Harris
With a recording career spanning three decades, the poised, multi-talented Emmylou Harris is a veritable grande dame of American roots music. From her beginnings as a folk singer in Greenwich Village, to her fruitful partnership and turn toward country with Gram Parsons, to her more recent genre-defying collaborations with younger musicians such as Ryan Adams, Beck, and Conor Oberst, Harris’ voice proves lovely and her vision compelling in almost any context. Harris has been moving further into solo territory in the past decade, penning and recording her own polished songs that make up most of the new Hard Bargain, including the uplifting reflection on her partnership with Parsons, “The Road.”
