Evan Dando

First a scruffy underground band and then an above ground sensation thanks in part to a Simon & Garfunkel cover and bandleader Evan Dando’s good looks; The Lemonheads have always had a way with light, strummy power-pop. Even after dancing with the cocaine devil during the ’90s, Dando has a vibe that remains as breezy and laconic as ever. Or, at least, that’s how it played on the band’s 2009 covers album, Varshons. It wasn’t Dando’s strongest work, but the sleepy alt-rock icon still has a gift for reworking other people's songs until they sound like Lemonheads originals—still, expect his current solo tour to attract more than a couple of fans still mourning the loss of Sassy magazine.
