Experimental Dental School

It would be a cop-out to say that Experimental Dental School sounds much like its name implies—painfully erratic in theory and execution—but the description rings undoubtedly true. Its unpredictable drum beats and sharp, sticky guitar jabs are spread over its sunny harmonies, Shoko Harikawa and Jesse Hall’s vocals braiding together smoothly with organs, pianos, and plenty of computerized sounds. The West Coast group grabs at everything from Deerhoof to Big Black to The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion to create a audible trail mix all its own.
