Eyehategod
Eyehategod—all bluesy, dropped-tuned riffs and deeply morose, drug-addled lyrics—is one of the more sought-after bands among its New Orleans metal brethren. The corrosive, uncompromising sludge band (now in its 24th year) has been somewhat dormant in the wake of singer Mike Williams’ 2005 arrest for heroin possession—not that inactivity has ever really affected the act’s fan base. Eyehategod has never been known for massive output, and to date the band has only released four studio albums. The band’s eternal combustion is one of several sick angles of Eyehategod’s appeal, and though it’s found solid footing on the touring circuit—where it debuted a new song, “New Orleans Is The New Vietnam,” in 2011—Williams consistently cites the band’s history of instability when asked about the possibility of a new record.
