Father John Misty

When people think Fleet Foxes, they mostly think about lead singer and brainchild Robin Pecknold. It is actually a band though, made up of individual moving parts and musical sensibilities that all contribute to the whole. Up until he left the group in 2011, one of those contributors was drummer Josh Tillman. Working solo now under the name Father John Misty, Tillman is letting all his musical ideas hang out. On Fear Fun, his 2012 debut, Tillman finds inspiration in decidedly more terrestrial places than in his former band. He’s got songs about drug freakouts, talking dogs, and sex—all freaky stuff—but he delivers it all in a refreshingly un-freaky way. He’s a weird dude who likes weird stuff, sure, but who isn’t?
