Artist Faun Fables

Purveyor of exotic folk—as well as a frequent collaborator with Will Oldham—Dawn McCarthy has released a handful of discs under the Faun Fables moniker, the most recent being 2010’s Light Of A Vaster Dark. McCarthy has a soft spot for over-the-top theatricality—Nils Frykdahl of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is, after all, in her band—but Vaster Dark is relatively straightforward compared to 2006’s theater-production-turned-album The Transit Rider.
