Artist Felix Cartal

With a tour alongside mash-up giants MSTRKRFT under his belt, as well as landing a cushy spot on DJ extraordinaire Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, Felix Cartal’s gleaming résumé has put the young DJ in a high-profile position. But the Vancouver remix master’s place at the top didn’t come without some serious hustling—Cartal’s own bootleg mixes helped spread his hard electro sound from the Canadian club world to the U.K.’s devoted nightlife seekers. Having remixed acts ranging from Britney Spears to Dragonette, the headphone-less Cartal also creates harsh dance tracks of his own, and put out his debut full-length release, Popular Music, in early 2010—featuring collaborations including Todd Fink of The Faint and Johnny Whitney of Blood Brothers/Jaguar Love.
