Fiona Apple
After a seven-year absence, America’s favorite tortured soul, Fiona Apple, has returned. Apparent in the title of her brand new album, she’s still the same ol’ Fiona: The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw, And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do. (Compared to 1999’s 90-word poem of a title When The Pawn Hits, it sort of rolls off the tongue.) So, Apple’s back, and it seems like a perfect time to dust off her songwriting shoes. Her influence is being felt all over the music charts with acts like Lana Del Ray gaining popularity. Having close to a decade to rest, Apple’s bound to have a lot of pent-up aggression. When the time comes for her to unleash that aggression, the music world is sure to notice.
