Forgetters

After Jets To Brazil quietly disbanded following the release of 2002’s excellent Perfecting Loneliness, frontman Blake Schwarzenbach disappeared from music. So when he re-emerged in 2008 in The Thorns Of Life, it created a lot of buzz, and not just because that band’s sound recalled Schwarzenbach’s seminal punk band, Jawbreaker. Sadly, it wasn’t long before the mercurial Schwarzenbach disbanded Thorns, but he reworked some of the band’s material for a new trio, Forgetters (or forgetters, as the band prefers). The group just self-released a double 7-inch, four songs of stripped-down, punk-derived rock—more Unfun than 24 Hour Revenge Therapy on the Jawbreaker spectrum—that should find favor with fans who considered Jets To Brazil too overwrought.
