Foxy Shazam
The bombastically anthemic Foxy Shazam purports to be the "Michael Jordan of Rock 'n' Roll." While frontman Eric Nally doesn't quite reach the heights of His Airness, his onstage cigarette-eating antics, Axl Rose wail, and Freddie Mercury fashion sense definitely put him in contention for Lollapalooza's MVP Award. The band's self-titled third album is making subtle waves amongst the post-emo crowd, and the band snagged the opening slot on Hole's recent tour. More impressively, Foxy actually managed to hold its own within the Courtney Love Meltdown Show thanks to its comically campy melodies and equally epic choruses—when Nally proclaims that he's "a dog who's in love with a kitty," he's accompanied by howls and barks.
