Fran Healy

travis, Fran Healy

Travis frontman and gosh darn most charming guy in the world Fran Healy is hot off the release of his equally charming solo record, Wreckorder. Recorded largely by himself—aside from the contributions of Noah And The Whale’s Tom Hobden and, oh yeah, a bass part from Paul fucking McCartney—Wreckorder presents a darker musical vision than the one Travis’ singles like “Why Does It Always Rain On Me?” and “Sing” predict. But nighttime and melancholy suit Healy’s fragile voice just fine, opening the record with a spine-tingling cameo from Neko Case on “Sing Me To Sleep.” Wreckorder is a worthwhile point to get reacquainted with one of Britpop’s most influential songwriters.
