Artist Francois K
Francois K. played a big role in early days of dance music in New York. In the same DJ circles as Nicky Siano, Larry Levan, Walter Gibbons, and others whose names make many a foot tap at mere mention, he started playing disco in the mid-’70s, helping to shape its sound through taste and extended dance remixes he made himself. These days, K. leans toward the mellow and spacey, digging through the less frenetic reaches of house and techno, with lots of dub slathered on top.
