French Horn Rebellion
Given its quirky, oompah-evoking name, you might expect French Horn Rebellion to be yet another suspenders-donning indie band playing old-timey melodies with unorthodox instrumentation. Actually, FHR is a dance-pop act for which old-timey means Yaz circa 1981, and whose members’ production credits include work with fellow au courant synth revivalists MGMT. Yes, one-half of this brother duo did hold the principal French horn chair at Northwestern University for a while, but FHR is more about the disco than the music hall, as evidenced by its recent debut full-length, The Infinite Music Of French Horn Rebellion.
