Gary Louris

Gary Louris

Fans of the seminal Minnesota country-rock band The Jayhawks have good reason to be excited—or at least, as excited as its world-weary somber twang will allow. The band will be hooking up for a few dates at First Avenue in Minneapolis this summer, and in the meantime, buttery-voiced troubadour Gary Louris—whose sugary harmonies with bandmate Mark Olson twinkled atop the band’s dusty rhythms—continues to tour in support of his 2008 solo album, Vagabonds. Certain to satisfy anyone burning for The Jayhawks’ countrified caress, Louris’ solo songs like “True Blue” preserve that same vintage sound, albeit with a little less harmony—but Louris’ 2009 collaboration with Olson, Ready For The Flood, has that covered.
