Geoff Farina
Geoff Farina has been a quiet force in the indie-rock scene for nearly two decades, including stints with the seminal math-rock outfit/Southern Records mainstay Karate; early ’90s indie darlings The Secret Stars; and, more recently, Glorytellers. He moved to Chicago late last year, though, and has been hard at work on his own solo material. Raw, unorthodox, and honest, his style blends gritty blues riffs with jazzy, prose-like lyrical structure. That love for old-timey fare is evident in his solo guitar arrangements of Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Willie Johnson, and Doc Watson, as well as his two duos, the guitar-mandolin country-folk combo The Last Kind Words and the pre-WWII rags and spirituals act The Angel’s Message To Me.
