Listening to Geronimo!’s debut LP, Fuzzy Dreams, it becomes obvious that the Chicago trio isn’t interested in being straightforward. Eight-minute songs like “Table Legs” and “Battery Acid Moustache” lurch around patiently, scraping out needling solos and crashing into noisy territory without losing the groove (the former nonchalantly tucking horns into the finale), while shorter offerings like “Design Yourself A Heart” and “Nakajima” audaciously pair Black Sabbath-like beds of fuzz with trippy vocals. The band has started posting teasers for an upcoming full-length follow-up, including a rumbling, rhythmic psych-rock jam currently on its Facebook page.
