Ghetto Division

Depending on who's hearing it, Chicago DJ/producer crew Ghetto Division mixes up either a hyper-stimulated rush of giddy party jams, or a hyper-stimulated crash course in various fragments of music that most people are content to file under dance, hip-hop, or electronic. Before all the members had even turned 21, Ghetto Division got a boost from Diplo's Mad Decent label (arbiter of party-music edginess), which helped to launch the group's mix of house music and, well, a whole mess of other sounds into the Chicago club scene and beyond. But even those who think a dance party is just a dance party can at least admire the genre-colliding energy at work here.
