Artist Girlyman

Strong personal bonds and three-part vocal harmonies make the members of folk-pop group Girlyman rely on one another. So, of course, there had to be doubt about whether the group could continue at all when Doris Muramatsu was diagnosed with leukemia in late 2010 and the group canceled its tour. Girlyman’s most recent effort, 2009’s Everything’s Easy, as well as the band’s contributions to comedian Margaret Cho’s album Guitarded, came before Muramatsu’s illness, but with her speedy recovery, the band was able to get back out on the road fairly quickly. Now, with a new album, Supernova, just released, it seems like everything is thankfully back to normal for the band.
