Gojira

Yes, Gojira’s name looks and sounds an awful lot like a certain giant Japanese lizard monster, and the French death-metal group sounds a bit like him, too—2008’s The Way Of All Flesh is almost orchestral in its ugly and guttural nature. Some songs maintain an ominous plodding and purposeful stride in their pacing amid muscular riffs (“Toxic Garbage Island,” “Wolf Down The Earth”) while others offer a chance to catch your breath (“The Silver Cord”) before an all-out assault (the 17-minute title track that closes out All Flesh).
